67 WITH 351w

Post by randyvines »

Any suggestion on what a good choice to replace my 3speed column shift would be. Engine is a 351w. The truck is a 67 f100. The uses anticipated: tow a 16 foot aluminum boat, drive to church for display and my son to drive to school. Maybe I am better converting to floor shift I have that idea in another thread. just feeling out oppinions and options.

I'm assuming backing down a boat launch ,I'd want a C6. :2cents:

Rebuild the column shifter, It would be a novelty , and no one else could drive it. :2cents:

:yt:, I want to find a truck with 3 on the tree, best anti-theft device in the world , and if a ricer happens to see it in the parking lot he will see the column shifter and think automatic but then see the 3rd pedal and be there in the parking lot with his buddies for hours just :hmm: . But if you decided to go automatic a C6 would probably be your best choice, they are great trannys and you will be nothing but satisfied .

I'd stick a T18/T19 or a NP435 into that truck.

I would go with 3 on the tree. They are good as long as you are used to it.

I would say go with a floor stick shift. With the 351W you've got all kinds of options 4, 4 w/od, 5 w/od, etc. My 2cents.

My cousin had a 69 swb 351 windsor, with 3.03 on the tree,it was a bad ass ride,Ive personally had it wound out to 90 in 2nd gear, and with 1st and rev being in line with one another, you could rock the dukey out of it to keep from getting stuck, and it would go for a 2wd,one of the best pulling trucks Id ever seen, for a 2wd.Keep the 3 spd.at least floor mount if you have to.

personaly i have my 3spd on the floor, and i just love it, the way you have to bend a little to make the changes and keep looking on the road it's a magnific feeling, moreover if my wife is with me. she say she loves to see me driving.

thinking about shifters i'll show you mine, it's a short stick Hurst with the classic withe ball
