Looking For Opinions on Rear End Ratios.

Post by luke-ao »

The truck I'm building will be a daily driver, I swapped my 390 for a 302 that I built (mild performance) C6 trans. It's a new build not even fired yet.

I believe I've decided to go with CV front and the Ford Explorer rear end. As I understand it there are 6 ratios offered, 3.08 _ 3.27 _ 4.10 _ 3.55 _ 3.73TL and 4.10TL. I live in AZ, our Highway speeds are 75mph so traffic runs around 85 but I'll have a lot of in town driving too. Just looking for a good in between gear, what you you guys suggest?

Just found a good article on this>>

Looks like the 3.73 will be a good start.

real world driving experience 3.27 & 3.55 are great for all around driving With the weight of the truck id go with the 3.55 , but check your tire height and mph on the calcs listed.
