1974 3 speed question

Post by gregamorton »

Guys Ive got the 240 out rebuilding it and decided to clean up and re gasket the 3.03 3 speed. Ive found a kit on ebay with all the gaskets and seals and O rings. Is there any thing I should know about before tearing apart to freshing up all these parts? Front input is pretty tight so I just want to do this and drain and refill tranny. Its supper clean inside and has been draining for several days and added gas and been spinning over to clean it out before draining again. Thanks for any advise ahead of time.

Well I got brave since no one on here apparently had never tore a 3 speed apart. Not bad at all.

I am betting it was a lot easier than attempting to tear apart the manual steering gear off of one of these bumps. It was sort of a humpty-dumpty experience for me.

I was just looking for help cause Ive been there tearing apart something new to me and springs and gears shoot out every where! All I did was tear off front section and rear section and added new gaskets and seals. No big deal except the dip and cleaning of the cast parts!
