I was fortunate to get the Heim joints for free-my dad had them laying around-the only expenses were the piece of rod and some nuts from the hardware store.
If I placed a value on my time, probably about an hour of direct work time invested, and another hour or so thinking about how to do it and looking around for the materials, the Drake part would seem more attractive.
It really came down to time. I work 50-60 hours a week and have 2 kids under the age of 4. So, my wrenching time is limited and needs to be as efficient as possible. For me, $30 was well worth it given the window of time I had to work with the get the truck running.

That makes a lot of sense. We do what it takes, balancing our resources to keep the old vehicles on the road.

I got the stainless steel one from macs auto...which is vended out to another company called edrick or edrichs or something. I broke my 1st tool. which was used for bending brake lines... not stainless. local auto part store still warrantied it out. I did have to straighten it out and re bend it for my needs...the line.

I know that one! I finished the rebuild on my block this summer, and Mama got really tired of the time I was spending in the garage. The only way I got away with it is that the truck is my daily driver. She's put her foot down on the idea of a "next project."
