New Motor Mounts too big?

I have got myself a stock F100 Custom long bed with a 300 straight 6, a bit later than your sites recommended 67-72 as It's a 78 sorry, but I joined this forum as I really need some help with it.
I bought it as a fresh import from the USA, I'm sure someone’s old dead truck that was snapped up for 200 bucks then shipped to the UK and stuck on ebay. I have spent over $2000 rebuilding the engine as it was worn due to a lack of oil changes. (Why so much? I have to pay lots of US export duty on parts, but it works both ways) it has been re-bored, reground and all new shiny bits inside. I have spent many hours fitting, cleaning, rubbing and painting this engine. All I want to do now is to start it and enjoy my little bit of Americana. But the engine mounts of all things have stopped me.
The old ones were toast so I bought some news ones from a UK supplier ready for when the engine was finish and didn't question it. But when I went to fit the engine back in the truck the mounts are far too wide as they are so much beefier than the stock ones. I bought all the engine rebuild bits from Summit Racing and found they have excellent customer service so I ordered another set of mounts from them but they were the same as I had. I contacted Summit Racing and they couldn't help, saying 'they are the only parts they supply for that engine'.

Can someone please tell me why this is? as they do not fit my truck at all. The frame mounts look original.
Here are Pictures of the new mounts on the original frame mounts, it has always a l6 300 truck

From the pictures, to me, the motor mounts don't look too big. I just dropped a 352 back in my truck. I don't think they looked as snug as yours do, but my mounting studs were pretty long. I did have to insert one side before I could get the other in ... and I scraped off some pretty, new paint in the process! I think I dropped in the driver side first, then loosely installed the washer and nut (to keep it from popping back out), then lifted/tilted the engine to get the passenger side mount in. Then I loosely installed the washer and nut on that side, so I could line up the transmission mount on its cross-member (which was a major PITA, by the way).

I also went to RockAuto, and looked at the mounts for a '78 300CI, but they all look pretty much the same. Also, I've found that no matter what the picture shows, you get what you get. The part numbers on RockAuto agree with what you listed, but until you hold it in your hands, you don't necessarily know what it is you'll be getting. I think I ordered Brand X, but when I opened the box, I had received Brand Y.

Thanks for repling Colnago. I have cut about 3/4'' off the studs already as they were so long. I also loosen all the frame mounts bolts from the K member and tried one side first but it must be 3 to 4'' out Its hard to see on the picture but each mount is an inch thicker than the old ones plus the stud seem to be higher up the mount. As you said about the pictures when ordering, I order the second set from Summit Racing because the picture look more like the originals but got exactly the same as I had. I tried all the tricks before coming here. I Think I'm going to have to fabracate some new frame mounts.

Sorry getting a bit carried away. I've been a Mechanic all my adult life but I'm always just fixing things. This is the first time I've tried to make it pretty aswell. Just hope it doesn't throw a rod when I start it or it'll the prettiest sea anchor in the harbor.

Don't know if they changed for '73-'79 model years but our trucks mount were P/N C7TZ-6038-A and -B. Here's a link to one on EBay. Ditto , nice job man, tastefully done. I dont know how much this will help but every time I dropped an FE in , it always seemed like they wouldn't set down together and get into the holes, I found I had to get one started then let it down and then the other would eventually get in then the engine would settle and level out.

When I just dropped my fe in I had to install the studs first and then bolt it to the block?
