Anyone have suggestions and photos of a good aftermarket battery mounting system

Post by Madman »

I think initially I put this in the wrong forum, so here goes...

Getting ready to mount the battery and wanted to know of a good aftermarket battery mounting system for a 4x4 application? I could always go with stock but know they are prone to rust.

Photos, inside info, and where to get would be appreciated.

I would lean twards factory. The rusting out is caused by leaking batteries, either from the vent caps on a serviceable battery or the battery pushing up fluid at the terminals themselves. always battling corrosion at the terminals and cables would be a good indication of a battery pushing fluid and should be replaced. So i think it ends up being a battery question vs battery mounting when corrosion is concerned. A dry cell or glass-mat battery may be a better option or you could always go for big plastic enclosed batt box?

I ended up ordering a factory set up, and will put a heavy coat of undercoating on the area. I'd imagine batteries are a bit better than they were 40+ years ago.

Thanks!

Depends on the charging system. If the battery is over charging it'll leak. I'm currently running a single yellow top in my truck and it's been painless so far.

Use an AGM or other sealed, NON-Liquid filled battery.

Batteries do outgas an acid fume that will cause the damage.

One reason Ranchero50's yellow top is working so well in that regard.
