Muffler poll
Am gonna run duals with a side exit on my F100 and am torn between running a Flowmaster muffler or glasspacks. I have always loved the sound of a Ford with glasspacks but have heard some with the Flowmasters but there are so many different ones I don't know which one they are running. Whatever you guys recommend would be a great help in helping me decide. Thanks!

I love my 40 series Flowmasters on my '69 (390/C6) and I'm currently building a stainless exhaust with polished Black Widows on my '70 (also 390/C6) which will also have electric cutouts!

The 68's Allied Glass pacs sound great with a old school rumble that doesn't have the neighbors running for their pitch forks.

Re: Muffler poll
Ive had people come up to me and my truck and compliment me on the sound. It has flowmasters, unknown model and really old. Ive always thought glass packs would sound really cool and 70s, but have contemplated trying a set of spin-techs.

Re: Muffler poll
I had two 20in glasspacks coming out the side before the rear wheel on my 1968 360 trucks. Loved the sound but might be a little loud for some- for me not enough. My 1972 is just going to run straights out the side. Take not though mine is not my daily, just a weekend cruiser

Re: Muffler poll
I really like Pype's race flows. Here's a quick video of them on my '05 Lincoln LS with cats from 2012 when I installed them. They've opened up some and have a really good tone, like an old big block with stock dual exhaust.

Re: Muffler poll
I'm going with a stock exit behind both wheels so the noise won't be too loud in the cab - and mine also won't be a daily driver so I'm not too worried about that either. I'm just really undecided because I like the sound of both style mufflers but am old enough that everyone when I was in school ran glasspacks so I'm kind of partial to the sound. I'll keep following and checking out everyones suggestions - I've got til spring to decide since the powers that be here in Ohio decided it was time to treat the roads even though its been way too warm to snow and the truck came from Idaho and has never seen salt.....and never will as long as I own it.......Subzero wrote:I had two 20in glasspacks coming out the side before the rear wheel on my 1968 360 trucks. I've got some Flowmasters on my 390. Not too terribly loud...until I get some crappy little Prius driver next to me, scowling at my truck. Then, well, I kind of light it off.
And, after that, I smile a lot.

Re: Muffler poll
The PO had duak glasspacks in when I bought it. He did a really cruddy job, so I took it to a muffler shop and they replaced the entire system. They had FlowMaster in the shop, so I went with that. So far, I'm really happy with it. It is my daily driver, by the way.

Re: Muffler poll
just put on a set of flowmaster series 40 and like them. but delta 40s are nice too. magnaflow are a solid alternative and i would be happy with either over a glasspack. thats my vote for this poll...

Re: Muffler poll
You should want your truck quiet enough so you can drive up to your bipolar, ex-girlfriends house and get all your stuff out of the garage.
WITHOUT waking her up. And all the bats in her bell-tower. Or maybe when you show up late for work. And nobody would've noticed. Especially the ever present, back-stabbing, toadying coworker who is only alive due to your desire to not spend your life in prison. All easily avoided if only you weren't driving around in a rolling calliope.
Sooo many things in life go much smoother and with more success if you can avoid making a spectacle of yourself. I mean, do you really WANT an audible advertisement of your presence EVERYWHERE you go?
