460 carb mounting pegs pressed or screwed in?

i cant get the carberator mounting pegs off, ive squeezed them as hard as i can with vise-grips and cant get them to loosen up at all. are they pressed in?
i can try grinding down each side of a peg and getting grip that way with the vise-grips if they are indeed screwed in

reason i need them out is because were putting a carb spacer on

They are just studs threaded on each end if I'm not mistaken. I am pretty sure they thread into the intake like any other carb stud. Have you tried WD 40 or something like that? I changed the ones in my 302 and they were tough to get loose, but not that tough. Have you ever tried a stud extractor? Sears has ste that grips the end of a stud and removes it. I used that to remove a head stud once. It worked great.

Double nut them then soak in PB blaster. Hit each one a sharp blow straight down once with big hammer. Good luck

the ones on the 360 were tough to get off but came off. these ones seem like they are a part of the block. im sure there threaded though.

ill try soaking them in PB blaster.

He's saying that if you thread two nuts on those studs and tighten them together, you've essentially created a bolt....something you can use a wrench on. :thup:

i see, i just didnt get the part about the hammer. i understand hitting the wrench with a sharp blow to knock the thread loose, but hitting down? :?

ill try wrenching on a double-nut though with a hammer :thup:

After you pb blaster the stud if you strike the stud, you shock it and allow the penitent to soak in and possably loosen the rust.
