Motor Mounts - which ones will work for 390

Post by grantorinosport »

I have a 71 F-250 2WD 360 (will be a 390).

I was wondering which motor mounts will work for this application. A bit of searching here found a comment from averagef250 from 2006:

"67-76 are the same. 77 early is it's own beast, 77.5-79 are totally different."

But the discussion was concerning 4x4 trucks.

Are all (2WD & 4WD) FE equipped trucks 67-76 all the same???

Since you already have an FE in your truck, there isn't anything you'll need to change for your 390. 2WD are a different animal, chassis wise, from 4WD.
1970, 2WD, F-250, C/S, Dual Tanks, 390 FE (of course), C6, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Dana 60 3.73, Sky View Blue, Ranger XLT

1970, 2WD, F-250, C/S, A/C, Dual Tanks, 390 FE (again, of course), C6, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Dana 60 3.73, Wimbledon White & Sky View Blue, Ranger (almost twin brothers!)

as far as engine perches. you dont need to do or worry about anything. the 360 and 390 are the same engine with different internals. the only reason to change the mounts on a 2wd truck is to upgrade to power steering.

Hi Scott!

If your FE's much more powerful than stock, or if you just want stronger mounts, the AutoFab setup might interest you:

FE and T18/C6 mounts from Autofab, plus frame alignment.
