EFI... has anyone seen this?

Post by Doug Comer »

I saw it this morning on one of those shade tree mechanic shows. It is made by a company called FAST and it is their EZ-EFI master kit. It requires no laptop or special tuning to use it. It comes with all the required hardware and will bolt on to any manifold. I looked it up and the master kit is expensive. I don't know much about EFI or putting it on an FE but I thought this sounded pretty cool. What do you guys think about it?

I like FAST EFI products, but in my particular application mainly no fuel return line, The retrotek/professional products Powerjection III is the best EFI set up out there. Also, very easy install with little to no wiring harnesses, and self tuning. The returnless fuell system up to 500hp is now available. I am ording this next month for my 390, I have been emailing them for the past 4 months on this... Also the price for the full system plus fuel system is about $1890.00

This is a really neat video

I think that retrotek kit is awesome. I love how compact it is and how it basically looks like you've got a trick carb on it. If I had extra $$$ to spend on efi it would be under my x-mas tree.

r71F250, I look forward to a full review from you!

What you're paying for is superior design and a fi system that learns on it's own how to run right; no tuning and the ability to easily support 500hp. I personally have never been impressed with gm's tbi's; I had a tbi camaro once that I built a 350 for and modified all the fuel injection for it. It had a bored out throttle body, bigger injectors, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a custom chip, and all the fixin's for a 350. It ran ok, but when I put a 600 Holley on it (after it didn't seem like it was at it's potential) it made WAAAY more power, especially on the top end. I went from low 15's to high 13's in the quarter just by putting the carb on it. :2cents:

r71f250,
I too will be ordering the retrotek system, but had a question concerning the vented tank that is required. I have a 67 with tank in cab that is vented through the cap. Do you think that is enough vent or will I need to vent the tank? If you have any information I would really appreciate it.

I'm wondering and almost want to send them a message asking if it can adapt itself to run E-85. I know a carb can be set up to run it, however it has to be exactly 85% +/- no more than 5%, whereas fuel injected motors can adapt to the not-so perfect mixtures.

I am adding this to my future wish list!

if your going with a radical cam or other mods that are outside the relm of a stock EFI computor it's worth every penny. For milage, or just having EFI nothing beets the stock Ford EEC4 units.

That is for sure. For those prices I could buy a complete, wrecked 460 efi truck to swap my 71f100 460/c6 over to efi like I would like to do. Sell the left overs and probably make a couple dollars.
Nice looking stuff though. I sure wish I had that kind of money to play with
