Starting 351M

Engine cranks, but doesn't start. I installed a new starter solenoid, ignition coil. Fuel is getting to the carburetor. Spark plugs had black soot on them. I used sand paper to clean them and put them back. Distributor cap looks to have no cracks. Center coil wire has spark. Truck sat for like 6 months. Replaced cracked fuel hoses and mechanical fuel pump. Gas is new. Tried starter fluid as well.

Need some advice on what to check. Thanks.

If it won't fire on starting fluid chase down the ignition. Is it running a Duraspark or points?

Points. I'm going to wire it from the battery to the ignition coil next.

It runs! Note to self, always thoroughly clean/rebuild the carburetor first before doing anything else.
