I was thinking it looked a lot like the clip that holds together the heater hoses running to the heater core? :?

Thanks chips68. I was sure that I am right. But..... Now Im second guessing myself.
I went back and re-read what Keith posted about the part.
He said its "on all bumpside and dentside trucks"
While Im sure I saw that exact clip holding the steel fuel line to the gas tank on my bump, the dentsides had the tanks under them. Not in the cab. So I dont know where (if at all) that clip would go on a dentside.

Well, like Sharkdance said a dent don't have the tank in the cab, However I removed a tank from a 72 two weeks ago and it had the clip holding the line to the tank and this one (maybe not orignal) did not have a rubber coating. But like I said who knows if thats factory installed

Keith, I'm going to double check, but I'm almost certain that there were clips just like this one holding the steel fuel line on the frame under the motor. And also on the steel vent tube that runs on the other side to the charcoal canister. I'll check into it and let you know if I'm remembering correctly. :D

I know that the steel fuel line that runs along the frame is held onto the side of the frame by plastic clips, there are no steel clips along that at all. And fordman verified that the in-cab tank does use one of these clips on the line that runs down along the side of the tank, but the clip isn't plain steel, but lined with plastic. However, if you could check what holds the vent tube line that goes to the charcoal canister, that would be great.

Dag-nabbit! I got here too late. I was going to say it's the clip that holds the doomahiggy to the cable attached to the whatchamacallit, thus preventing that thingy from flappin.

I was a little hung up last night, had to run out and pick up something for two-bit. I'll check tonight. I remember the clip from when I had the motor out. I hope I'm remembering correctly. I'm actually second guessing myself now. :hmm: :P

The F250 4x4s also had them, up through '77-1/2...since they still had the narrow frame spacing, an aft-axle fuel tank won't fit.
