Great build! I personally like the older bucket seat look. I'm not sure how the newer middle seat would lok with them, but I'm sure it could be made to work. Best of luck!

Ryan had a seat like that with the arm rest in his 1969 rubicon thread. It looked pretty good. I had a old seat with the arm rest I had to ditch. The arm rest was perfect with the manual transmission. With my elbow on the rest it felt perfect for shifting. The old school seats do have a nice classic look to tho.

I like the newer seat, and it gives you the spot for an extra rider. Nice truck overall.

I really struggled with a color, as I knew I wanted to move away from the original winter/mallard green combo, as even bright and shiny, this scheme does not suit my eye. The options that I toyed with:
- my Dad had a Seapine green metallic single-tone 72 Custom. Dad isn't with us anymore, so my Mom was pushing for this color. I thought the 72 truck itself is a tribute enough, and I would pick something different to make it my own.
- '68 highland green metallic (Bullitt), but I like this color as a single-tone solid, and I was leaning 2-tone
- Ford candy-apple red (color of my old 67 Cougar - sold) - decided after owning 4 red cars, I've had enough red cars...time for something different...
- oddly enough a black/gold combo that is on one of the M1 toy trucks I found at Wal Mart.

I actually went so far as to develop a pro-con list, and decided the dark green would be too hard to keep clean. My favorite scheme that I kept coming back to each time:

This is TPDaniels' truck (he is a member here). My truck isn't a highboy, but I really, really like this scheme of wind blue/wimbleton white. I have never actually seen this color combo on a bump in person before, so am quite excited about it. The box is to get a color-matched white liner (I've researched this - urethane product, which stands up to UV and scratches), with a black interior.

Tpdaniels does have a great looking truck. I thought about those colors too after seeing his. I didn't have the bump trim so I kinda couldn't do a two tone. I've seen two tone with the blue in the middle and that looks good too. I saw a two tone boxwood green and white and really liked that. I've never heard of gold and black not sure how that would look. You could always have parts that are seapine, maybe as an accent in your engine bay if it matched your paint somewhat. I even thought of a flat tan like the new Toyota Tacoma. I pulled my hair out for weeks tryin to think of a color for mine. It has to be what you like, your the one driving it, not anyone else.

Hey that is kinda cool. Especially since you named it smokey; you could do a smokey and the bandit scheme.

So after my last post, I thought a long time about color, and revisited my pro/con list. Gonna stick with my wind blue/W.white combination

Talked to my body man yesterday - he is almost ready to apply the box liner (I guess he wants to do this before paint).

The paint supply guys figured I need 2 Raptor kits for an 8' bed. I thought that if there is any left over, we can do the floor of the cab for some additional sound protection. I can't wait to see it applied - hope to have pics soon!

I've done a bit of research, and went with the Raptor product since this is what my paint supply place uses, and can vouch for years of experience and ease of application.

Hoping it's as good as they say!

Some minor updates - dropped off the U-Pol Raptor spray-in boxliner at the bodyshop, and had a look at the progress. My bodyman has a family member recovering in hospital from pneumonia, so that has slowed progress a bit. Thankfully his family member is improving, so that is the most important thing.

Some good progress - he does excellent work:

Outside of box has been sandblasted to eliminate surface rust and rust in the seams:
Image

A couple of trouble spots, but the box sides are very straight:Image

Image

Tailgate getting smoothed out. He still has to fill holes where an old tailgate cap (I think) was fastened:Image

Fenders and doors are repaired and ready to hang:
Image

Next week he will blast the inside of the bed, remove it from the frame and get it back into the shop. The Raptor liner will be sprayed on after a couple dents are smoothed out in the box. That's all for now - can't wait!

Steve.
