Friends truck for sale

Post by 69Ford »

Here are some pics of a friends truck for sale. He would like to have a value put on it if anyone can help 1969 Ranger Explorer Camper Special. I'm not a expert but looks very solid rust wise there are some wiring modifications done Headers were added he says motor was rebuilt at some point. Just a note these pics were taken a couple years ago I know it has not been driven much since the pictures were taken.

My thoughts at the market current would be don't let it leave less than $5,000.00 they are getting rare. Its tough to call these things 3/4 tons are up and down with special buyers. everybody loves 1/2 ton short boxes but the big trucks are creeping up. Bare minimum 5k on me she's a beauty. :D

Closer to 8k. That's a tight looking rig!

Sold a similar truck earlier this season for 6k+, and it wasn't near as pretty.

I guess I'll be the spanner thrown in the works.

You said wiring mods have been done. What mods, and why? And when? It's no fun to trouble-shoot electrical gremlins on a 50-year-old vehicle.

You said that it has headers. What headers? Long, mid, shorties? What else was done to the exhaust, along with the headers? Any mods to the truck to accommodate the headers?

You said the engine had been rebuilt at some point. From the photos, it looks like an oily, dirty engine. When was it rebuilt? How many miles on the build? Stock build, or mods?

Then there's the standard stuff. What transmission, age of tires, rust, registration up to date, etc.

Not looking to pop the balloon, just asking questions that I would want answers to before coming up with a number. It is a sweet-looking truck, by the way!

For $5000 someone would have to be a fan of that color, otherwise there's a paint job to consider.

In MN. Oh,...$3500 if no rust? :hmm:

down here in the Florida panhandle, he could get 8k for that truck all day. Heck, Navy Fed Credit Union goes by the NADA value which would be close to 14k
1971 F250 Camper Special, family owned since 1972
1983 Cherokee, last of the big ones, bought in Italy, family owned since 1998
1965 Corvair Corsa Convertible, 140 engine, 4 speed.
