Ya'll will like this one...

Post by Bill Ramsey »

Found this 1968 F250 on Clist. In the RV section.

Been sitting for 20 years and had a large slide-camper on it. Older guy bought it when it was 4 months old and used it for family trips to Mexico and wherever. Was very difficult to get onto trailer due to location and flat tires. Hauled it home on a Uhaul trailer (slowly), loaded backwards!

Been in East San Diego County all its life, Zero rust issues. Stacks of receipts, registration cards, maps, How to speak Spanish booklets in glove box.
Rats lived in engine compartment. pulled most of it out. only damage was chewed up ignition wires and battery cables. never got into the cab.

I drained the tank, put in some fresh gas with MMO, poured some MMO into the crankcase, replaced the ignition wires and battery cables, and after some fiddling, it fired right up. it ticked for a minute and then settled down to a nice smooth, quiet idle.

I pulled the crusty old camper off, got air in the tires and after adding 3+ quarts of Type F, it moves on its own! brakes are hard, like really hard. not sure about that yet. Then put the original tailgate back on. The PO was concerned that he couldn't find the back window. he found it and I went and got it.

I ordered new window gasket for the window, need to rebuild the carburetor and change a rusted out freezeplug. then I will clean the interior and get some protectant on the dashpad and seat.

only 65k miles on it. Receipts and records tell the story.

How much did I pay? get this- it was free.

FANTASTIC!

My '67 CS was 'free' too, but needed a clutch and a battery to start. Eventually dropped the tank and did a bunch of cleanup, eventually repainted it. Yours is in GREAT SHAPE by comparison.
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.

or, money.
