1968 Bump 8 ft box

Post by Rich100 »

My question. Will a 1988 Box Liner Fit into my '68. If not, where can I find the dimensions for both so that I can compare? Thanks.

If I were looking for one I'd flip a tape measure around at the junkyard and see what was close and go from there. If it were me, I'd go with a roll/spray in liner. Grit gets under those plastic liners and act like sandpaper. Sands it down bare and starts rusting....and you'll never see it rusting under that new liner.

That would be nice but the box is beat up. Full of dents especially the wheel wells, that why I am looking for a liner. The real question is the location of the wheel wells compared to other years . I found out the the boxes are the same size (interior) from '64 to '96. Which is 99" X 73" (if I can trust that site). I can't measure mine right now it is in the paint shop. Thanks for the reply.

The liner that was in my '71 bed was labelled -73-87 Chevy truck so I guess Chevy's and Ford's can get along ;)

This is very helpful for me too! I am in the same boat as my bed is pretty beat up and won't match my newly painted truck either. Any pictures?

yeah i have no idea what my bedliner is out of, but it has like 'pie cuts' made in the front of it to tip the edges in a bit for a good fit.

the truck came with it installed. i have a couple big rust holes so i've left it in there so stuff doesn't fall out... but if i didn't have the holes i would NEVER use a drop in bedliner due to the moisture and scuffing thing. they rust out truck beds so fast its scary.

i'd strongly advise against it, even if its ugly its better to be intact and ugly than rusted out and slightly less ugly (i think the plastic drop in liners look like dog turds either way)
