What bump-side related tools should I buy for $200 at harbor freight?

Post by 67swbranger »

Hi, basically I buy new HF tools everytime I start a new restoration project, the life spans on the tools doesn't go much further than the average restoration project for me  . Also figure i'm gonna need some kinda specialty tools for my first bumpside. Already have the basics, drill press ,welders, jacks, and a ton of welding equipment + 3 socket sets that equal one full set and every kind of wrench on the planet. So if you were me what would you buy at HF for bumpside with a $200 buck budget?
Bumpside Ford truck, made out of an 1967 f100, a 1972 f100, a 1978 lincoln, a 1987 f250, a 1993 crown victoria, a 2003 crown victora, and a whole lot of cutoff wheels and mig wire. Doesnt have many uses but is amazing at confusing the guy behind the parts store counter

$200? Hmmm....

Compartmentalized plastic boxes for hardware, electrical terminals, and other small parts. About $4 each
Heat gun.. $10
The $30 tool kit.. it's rather complete. I have one in all my vintage vehicles.
Aluminum jack.. about $70 or so.
Picks, a set of four .. they have orange handles. - $3
Ratcheting combo wrenches... $18 for a set of five or six wrenches IIRC.
Stepped drill bits. A set of three. about $9.

... a good supply of 1/8-inch drill bits for drilling pilot holes.

A press is handy,
Air compressor,
air tools,
electrical testers,
portable air tank,
cordless drivers,
tire changer,,
transmission jack,
cherry picker,
compression checker,
grease gun,

Think of the jobs you will be doing and tools that would make the job easier.

my stepfather buys from HF and the only two tools I've seen come out of there worth their weight is a transmission jack, which I had to modify for the c6 and an engine hoist. only used them a handful of times but made the projects I was working on so much easier and worth the money
72' f100, 390, performer rpm intake, performer rpm heads, summit cam 276 dur 533 lift, holley 750, flotech headers, c6, 350 rear end, electronic ignition and msd box.
