A serious post on shop safety. This is me after attempting to pry a roller back in track on a garage door like I have done so many times before. This time the bracket ripped loose from the garage door. First it hit me in my hand crushing two of my knuckles. Then it hit me in the face/head punching a hole in my skull and fractured it a 1/4 of the way around. It also cut though my eye lid and destroying my nose. TRUST me it could have been worse...Its one of those things I never really thought of as being dangerous but since it happened I've found out otherwise. Be careful out there.

Kid in my church just about had his wife and 2 y.o. son squished when the counterbalance spring snapped yesterday, dropping the door abruptly right next to their little Mazda. These are not to be taken for granted.

I couldn't scream "NO" fast enough when a friend who was working on garage door opener while the door was open removed a pin holding the whole thing together. Similar out come the door crashed and I mean crashed closed!! It buckled the door panels it hit so hard. I'm glad no one was under it.

Thanks! Healed up pretty well. A few steel plates in my head, a new steel nose, some reconstructive surgery and I'm good as new.

My wife had a lot to do with it. After being hit I made it to the house under my own power. Once there she packed up me and the baby and drove 20 miles to the hospital. 8)

With me bitching to slow down...

That's crazy. Looks like you took a ball bat to the nose. I'm still trying to visualize what part of it got you.

I've had the bottom roller pop out and it tried to rotate up on my and I've had the rollers fall out of the track when it's up and try to fall on me.

Wow, That is a major injury, I'm glad you made it through and a big pat on the back to your wife. I swear mine has probably saved me more than once.
