Blast cabinet kit

Post by 67f100 »

Does anybody know where I can get plans for making my own blast cabinet? I have seen one article in some automotive book concerning this a few years back and have googled this question but can't find any info anywhere. I can't believe Tip or some other company does'nt provide a plan for this-I think alot of guys would spend a couple hundred bucks for a good kit rather than 5-6 hundred or more for a quality cabinet.

I don't know of a kit. I put one together in an afternoon that has served me for years. Angle iron, sheet metal, expanded lathe, a piece of glass, mirror clips and toilet flanges.
I posted pics of it somewhere. I'll post em again tonight.

Someone does sell a kit ... I bought one many years ago. The brain is going though and I can't recall who from. It came with the hoses, valves, gloves, nozzles, gaskets and glass. All you had to do was build a box out of MDF or 3/4" plywood and add a grated screen to put your stuff on, and then add the parts they sent.
It may be easier to find one locally from the GSA auction page (Federal agencies seem to buy new ones often) and I was just up at Ft Lewis (in WA) today and they had several. They weren't up for auction yet though. They were up for other Federal agencies to claim first. If no agency claims them, they go to public auction (online). I have seen several lately on the Oregon state page. All the GSA auction pages are listed here http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/gsaauctions/ .

Good hunting!

Found the kit ... it can be had from TP Tools online at http://www.tptools.com/prod_list_displa ... FBP6AND8W0 It is priced up around $170 not counting the wood for the cabinet or the grate to sit your stuff on. I hope the link works ... should take you right to the kit. If not, just go to www.tptools.com and use their search box. It came with everything when I bought mine years and years ago, but I see equipment is optional now.
