Anyone heard of this brand of Air Compressor?

Post by spartman »

I was looking at the Harbor Freight Catalog and came across a PUMA brand aircompressor.

It seems to be a really good deal and was wondering if anyone had used or knew anything about these?

Thanks for any help.

Well heck, I was looking for it to say aluminum pump, but saw cast iron. Sounds good! I paid less than that for a 60 gallon ingersol rand but that's with a big discount. Looks like you found something good there. What are planning to do with that compressor?

Want or need one so that I can run a sandblaster for my truck.

I also suffer from big boy toy syndrome. ie I see it, it is big, I must have it :)

I have a Puma brand compressor for my airbrush. All I can tell you is that I do not baby the little thing and it has been pumping without complaint for 2 years now.

Brand names are a dime a dozen, but only a few manufacturers. Usually a catalog, or store chain want to develop their own brand, like Craftsman at Sears. Don't let those names fool you. Look for the ID plates. See where it's made. Watch out for the Chinese bargains.

Try TSC. I bought a similiar vertical compressor at the Tractor Supply Company store for a little less. It was marked as a store special for $479, but found a bar coded tag for $429 they forgot to remove before the "sale". Thought I had a bargain till later I saw their catalog showed it had been selling for $399 a month earlier. Heading back to see if I can get some concessions. The good news is they're American made.

What gets you is if you want to plumb for filters, oilers and dryers, etc - ykes!

I was going to say that Tractor Supply had them for about the same price. Same cfm rating too, only I think they call it a 5 horse.
