driveshaft components

Post by samericsson67 »

i just posted my most recent headache yesterday; a cracked slip yoke. even though i knew it wouldn't get me anywhere, i decided to ask around at a few auto parts stores. they all told me to just find a unibody shaft and forget about the slip yoke. so, does anybody know what i should look for? like does it have to be a shaft from a '67-'72? i'm running a 5.9l v8 360ci with a 4 speed borg warner trans. if anyone can help it would really be appreciated.

Maybe you already have but I think you need to find a good driveline shop. NAPA sells drive shaft parts so you can try that as well. If you go to Orielly or Autozone, you might as well be taking particle accelerator part in. Try this website:

i checked denny's they only have 28/31 spline yokes. thanks though. what i need is a 16 spline slip yoke, so the truck would have to be a 360 ci v8. and i'm not sure if the trans matters but mine is a borg warner t18.

2nd vote for the driveline shop. They are priceless in saving time and grief. Be cautious of finding the correct part here even if the spline count is the same. I learned this the hard way.
This might help:

the slip yoke is the little y-shaped piece that connects bot pieces of the drive shaft at the carrier bearing. and thanks for the link. i'll check it out.
