Phil, from France

Post by phil64 »

Hi all,
Please apologize as i've several defects : first i don't write very well english as i'm french, second i don't have a pickup but a Ford wagon since 1 year. It's my first american Ford, it's a '70 Country Squire, a "ten footer" car but with a well preserved interior and some cosmetics on engine.
I drove a lot of american cars since 35 years, especially Mopar, but also some Buick ...
I know that i'm in a country where american cars are not common, sizes and mpg are a main problem in France ! I'm also president of an american cars club.
I hope that i'll find here some replies to questions about my Ford, i read since some months this forum and find here a lot of informations (as the Dist-o-vac system, unknown for a lot of guys on french and american forums ...)

I spent 5 years in Germany and know how rare those cars are over there - and a Ford wagon is something I never saw - enjoy!

Thanks to all, as i said it's a "ten footer" ! All the "wood" mouldings have been painted on the car with a cream house paint and without care, there are lot of small spots on the "wood". The fake wood is original (i can see the horizontal lines) but also has been painted darker and with strange imitations of nodes.
Some spots of rust at bottom of doors and front fenders but not critical. Paint is original and needs to be redone. But i use it as a daily driver so i don't want to spend lot of money on it.

Is seems that the Squire came from Colorado to Germany around 2005-10 then owned two french men in north of France and now me. The "paint" works has been done either in US or Germany but the cream moulding paint is recent, before the mouldings were painted orange !!!!

My parents had a 1970 LTD two-door - same good-looking front end with hidden headlights. That car had a 351 cubic-inch engine with automatic transmission.

Nice looking wagon. Do you have restoration plans in the long-term or is it just a driver?

:wel: from USA. That is one nice ride you have there. Does that wagon have the fold down back seat that faces towards the rear window ? A buffing job will make that paint so shiny
