Hello from Illinois!

Post by Jlkuehl »

I bought my 1972 f100 about 15 years ago from a guy real desperate to sell it. $400 later, I had title in hand, and a truck that smoked and had sloppy steering. The old beast served me well for about 5 years while I was renovating my house, hauling almost anything I could stack on it. When the work on the house was done, I considered hauling it to a local junkyard and parting ways with it. The body was in terrible shape, more rust than body, the steering was notchy due to a worn out rag joint and sagging front cab mounts. Only thing was....I loved that rusted out, nasty, tore up beast of a truck. I pulled it into the garage and stripped it of every nut, bolt and screw. Slowly, over the last 10 years, it has been getting worked over, engine rebuilt, transmission freshened up with a B&M kit, and it's been a lot of fun and a lot of pain....nothing about this truck makes any sense! It has a spec code for a c4 trans, but it is a c6 with an oddball rear yoke in it. The belts are completely wrong from what I've read....but thats for another time. It's still nowhere near comlete, but it's getting there, a few parts at a time. So, I figured I had lurked on this site long enough, and decided to join up. Gotta love these old bumpsides!
