Howdy From San Antonio Texas

Post by Oily »

I think I got a deal on a 1970 Ford 100 Sport Custom short wheelbase fleetside P/U. $1200.00 from the original owner. I have the original title showing the dealer as the previous owner. A dealer located 30 miles from here.
The truck has sat for fourteen + years. It has not been abused but does seem neglected. There are a few minor dings, surface rust, and the original engine (302) has been replaced with an emissions era model.
I am new to Ford P/U trucks as Chevys, of the same era, are my favorites. I also own a 1970 Chevy short wheelbase fleetside P/U. I do recognize the quality of Ford and have owned a 61 Ranchero, a 67 Mustang coupe, a 69 Mustang fastback, a 72 Maverick Grabber, and a couple of other Fords.
I am excited to have this Ford 100 and look forward to learning more about them. All though it runs and drives I look forward to the enjoyment of fixing her up to great condition, showcasing the fine machine that she is, and letting the world know it. Which will be tough as I have two Jeep CJ7s, three Pontiac Fiero GTs, my 70 Chevy P/U, a boat and two pieces of property, and a home to tend to. That is after I tend to my honey doo's, as I am married. She is not too happy with my Ford 100,, yet,.
This forum seems well organized and I am sure that I will enjoy your company and know that I would appreciate any help that you can give me. I am mechanically adept, have tools, and use search where I can. I have not seen a links clicky but I still need to learn the forum site better.
I am gonna need some parts. What is a good vendor for replacement parts, such as a dash pad, etc ?
I won't get to post much as I stay very busy. I am gone from home a week at a time, every other week and then play catch up at home. Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself and I am looking forward to getting to know y'all. I believe that I know enough that I can even offer help and will where I can.
JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket. What does FORD stand for ?

Welcome Oily.

It sounds like you got a pretty good deal on the F100, post some pictures when you have a chance.

Though I don't have one, I too am a fan of chevy trucks from this era. They were a good looking truck, though I think Ford had them beat mechanically. These Fords were tough old trucks! Some of the good folk here may rib you a bit about the Chevy, mostly in fun  , I guess I pretty much like anything old.

Also fyi, there is a link on the main page that will take you to the links section.

Again, welcome and enjoy Fordification!
Dan

Once you get to fooling with that Ford you will completely forget about that era (INSERT NAME THAT SHOULD NEVER BE MENTIONED) but just so you know, glad you’re here and :wel: from TN. And also

Welcome to the site from another Texan! You'll like it! There's much info to be found here and plenty of people to help when you can't find the info. Sounds like you've had some good rides. I myself had a '77 F100 LWB, '70 C10 LWB, and a '72 Gran Torino 2-door, but currently only have a '95 Escort LX, '76 El Camino 454, and my '69 F100 SWB.

Dennis Carpenter, National Parts Depot, and LMC Truck are the main catalogs to have for these trucks, but there are several more vendors listed on the links page. DC usually has the highest quality stuff.

Oh, and FORD stands for First On Race Day!

'69 F100 SWB in Lunar Green with built 351C & TKO-600 5-speed, 4.56 gears, and Eaton TrueTrac Posi.
Future plans: Maybe one day, fresh paint, though I've been told by some, "Don't touch it! It's done!"
'06 Mustang GT 5-speed

Sold: '77 F100, '72 Gran Torino, '76 El Camino with 454 & TH400
